As a kid, I remember a large variety of cereals.

And some cereals I don't remember when looking through google images:

Sugar smacks?

Mr. T?

I was surprised to hear that new "less sugar" cereals were coming out:

A big question.. is are cereals healthy and good for you?  Arguably, the concept of a cereal is a very processed food with added nutrients.  If you have to have your cereal binge howcookingworks recommends:

  • Try to choose a cereal that doesn't overly have a lot of sugar and added things in it.  For example, cereal milk turning into milk chocolate or more marshmallows than flakes is a bad sign.
  • Try to add natural sugars to it.  Meaning, add a banana, strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries on top.  Some of these fruits may not be in season, so try your best with what you have.
  • Try to use your common sense when buying a cereal.  Eating cookies for breakfast?  I don't think that sounds too healthy....
  • Add if you have grapenuts.. I highly recommend microwaving it, because I have bad memories of my mouth hurting.

Happy eating!
